A1 - AMS Lite multicolor change from inexisting external spool

Hi everyone!

I’m using an A1 printer with the AMS Lite, both on the latest firmware, and Bambu Studio on Linux, also on the latest version.

The problem

When I print a multicolor object using the AMS, the current filament retracts properly at each color change. But after that the printer throws an error asking me to “Please feed filament into the PTFE tube until it can not be pushed any further” [07FF-C006 211326], and:

  • I’ve read that this error means the printer is referring to the external spool
  • when I push filament in manually, the “Device” tab in Bambu Studio shows that the connection is made from the external spool
What I’ve already checked
  • I’m only using and assigning the 3 AMS colors I want to print with
  • “Enable AMS” is turned on
  • My AMS is properly detected, and the connection to the printer doesn’t drop
  • When i’m not printing, if there’s filament loaded in the nozzle and I start loading another filament from the printer’s screen, the process completes without any problem
What I’ve tried
  • Factory resetting the printer, then adding it back in Bambu Studio
  • Resetting the external spool from the “Device” tab in Bambu Studio by clicking on “reset”
  • Setting the external spool in the “Device” tab to a random color, and even to a completely different material
  • Plugging the AMS into a different port
  • Manually feeding the filament several times and waiting for the next color change to see if it works. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t, so automatic multicolor printing isn’t usable for now.

My last idea is to take the nozzle head apart and clean it, in case there’s a sensor issue.
If you have any other ideas, I’d love to hear them.

Thanks in advance!
