My printer had a major jam. Melted and hardened filament got into everything!
I tried to replace the hotend but the assembly was really messed up.
I ordered and installed new assembly and hotend. In the process of install I snapped the filament senor - it’s a ribbon and very fragile.
A new one was delivered and installed. 2 weeks later I am ready to go then…
I go to calibrate and try to print and I get Calibration Fail.
I go to try to print I get “Homing Z Axis Failed”
Error 03004000
Anyone have a fix for this? Just 6 weeks into this printing fun but it’s all come crashing down.
Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you’ve had a pretty rough start. Good job pushing through and replacing the parts.
Can you move the z axis up and down via the screen? Could the cable to the z motors perhaps be unplugged?
You’ll get this figured out and be printing soon!

Hi JonRaymond
Thank you for your great question and thinking about this with me.
Yes I can move the Z axis up and down with the screen.
When I do move it up and down with the screen, it asks me (every time) to “home all axis to zero” which I can do.
When I go to start calibration, it moves up, it moves down, then it fails. It doesn’t reach to the top or bottom (when it starts in the middle). It just fails.
UPDATE: Returned my A1 as part of the recall. Now have the P1S - it is amazing. Quiter and very tidy. Now I need to see if i can return all the spare parts I bought for the A1!
@JonRaymond I had the same issue but with a brand new printer, after installed I ran the calibration setup and it failed after a couple of seconds, It starts moving side to side, up and down and then fails right away
