A1 flow dynamics / K factor not working

I just got my brand new A1 yesterday, but I noticed some quality issues that I didn’t see on my A1 mini. After doing a lot of test prints I’ve figured out that flow dynamics AKA the K factor is not taking effect when printing. Prints look identical with K factor values ranging from zero to 0.15, whereas on my A1 mini the prints look expectedly horrible with a value of 0.15. Also I can just tell by observing the extruder while printing that no flow dynamics compensation is being done.

So what is going on? In Bambu studio it shows the correct K value on the active spool. I’ve tried deleting the flow dynamics preset and adding a new one with no succes. Both printers are running the 01.03.00.00 firmware that released yesterday, and I’m using the newest version of Bambu studio 1.9.2.57.

Are anyone else experiencing this problem?

You sure the K factor is .15 and not .015? I made that mistake once and the prints were horrible.

Yea, you can see on the screenshots that it is set to 0.150.

I saw that. All my K values start with .0xx. That’s why I asked.

I could be wrong on this, but after the recent upgrade, and I assume the one to follow, the factor K, as a stand alone setting, is being phased out. I can longer enter a value even if I wanted to. But then, I have always set it to .020 no matter the filament and I very rarely have a bad print. Currently there is no setting, the factor K text windows being blank, and everything has been printing just fine.

Thought you meant it the other way around. I used 0.150 for testing on purpose, the prints should look terrible with this value, as they do on my A1 mini, but they look fine on my A1 indicating that flow compensation is not being applied at all.

I don’t think it is being faced out, now you just have to change the value through the new “Flow Dynamics Calibration Result” window now.

Any luck with this issue? I also feel like changing K-factor doesn’t do anything and my edges on A1 are just awful. Even though I set different profile (with desired k-factor) in bambulab studio.

Seem like my issue aswell. K factor seem stuck at 0.02 on the printer.

I’ve only had my A1 Combo for two months now and it took me a while to figure out how K-factor works when printing. Here’s what I figured out and I hope I’m not misleading you.

If you want that the printer uses the K-factor associated with filaments in Bambu Studio’s calibration tab, then you have to uncheck “Flow Dynamics Calibration” in the dialog box when you start the print, as explained in the article “Flow Dynamics Calibration” on Bambu Lab Wiki:

If you check “Flow Dynamics Calibration” before initiating each printing, the printer will calibrate the flow rate in the printing preparation stage, and this printing task will use the calibrated K value instead of the K value you set manually.

So we may ask ourselves why we need to record K-factors if the K value calculated at print start is reliable?

Still if I understood correctly, the main (only?) interest is during a multi-color print, because the K value calculated at print start (if “Flow Dynamics Calibration” is checked) will only apply to the first filament; for the other colors it will be the recorded K values, and if there is none it will be the default value 0.02.

Could a specialist confirm this for us?
