A1 head goes to far right after deep cleaning

I was having issues last weekend that indicated I needed to clean the extruder. So I followed the instructions for cleaning and since the drive wheel looked dirty, I followed the deep clean instructions and then put it all back together. Since doing this, when I start a print, the A1’s head moves to far to the right when doing the “cutting the filament” step. The head moves over so far that the fixed part that pushes the filament cutter flexes and then the head jumps a little and a loud clicking sound is made as if the head is jumping the track of the x-axis screw. I have a video of the issue.

At the end, the A1 shows the message “Cutting the filament failed. Please check to see if the cutter is stuck. Refer to the Assistant for solutions [1200-8001 112040]”

After seeing this message, I did replace the cutter but that didn’t make a difference.

Anyone have any ideas of what I can do to fix this? I checked for the error code on the wiki and didn’t find anything. I’m hoping to find some sort of answer here before opening a ticket with support.

I had the same issue once. I then discovered that I did not make sure the cutter blade went into the slot in the extruder. Not saying it is the same as your problem, but the message you got was the same as I saw when it happened to me. Also the travelling too far to the right, the loud clicking sound, etc. Sounds like what happened to me, but it was my error. So make sure the cutting blade is going back into its slot when you but the screw back in for the cutting arm.

Sorry for the delay in responding. You know, life.

Anyway, this is exactly what was happening. I hadn’t noticed that there was a slot that the cutter head needed to be in. Once I made that correction, it worked without any problems.

Thanks mahughesnh!

Glad to hear it worked for you too!

When it happened to me I thought I had broken something. So happy to find that the solution was simple!

Life, yeah I get it! No worries!
