Yeah, that’s the problem, a power cycle no longer remembers the state of the filament as it once did prior to the firmware update.
After returning to the previous firmware version, the problem was resolved
Same problem on my A1 with PETG after last update
Same on my A1. Printing PLA.
Rolling back to the previous firmware fixed it for me everything’s back to normal now.
Same behavior with my A1, downgraded to previous version with Bambu Handy, and now seems OK.
Same for me as well, it stopped doing it for one print then went back to doing it. It started relatively soon after I started using Bambu studio to slice my prints.
And also after it did an update.
How do you guys uninstall the update?
I’ve had the same problem on my A1 here, as I posted in another thread somewhere I can’t remember. I rolled back to 1.08.00 but I want a newer version as it supports Vietnamese. Might do a jailbreaking project if I want but that will take lots of time.
Don’t try to jailbreak printers unless you know what you’re doing.
My A1 Mini started doing this since the last update …..
Yes happened to me as well. I found that it you downgrade to the 01.08.00.00 firmware as @ScampLayer0 said it fixes the issue. I still however getting the 07FF-8007 210809 “Unknown Error Code” error every time I load new filament via external spool. I’m new to the A1 Mini so I just might be doing something wrong. It’s quite annoying if I’m being honest or it might just be the way it functions. In not sure. Someone let me know.
same issue for me. downgrading firmware. glad im not the only one. I asked on fb and noone seemed to be getting this but its clearly an issue.
Same issue. Reported to Bambu support and received this BS…
“Dear Bambu Lab 3D printer user,
Thank you for reaching out to our Bambu Lab Support team. This is a normal prompt when printing with an external spool; you just need to follow the instructions and there is no need to worry. Because when printing with an external spool, the printer cannot determine whether the nozzle has successfully extruded filament, so manual confirmation is required first. If you have any other questions or if there is anything else I can assist you with, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Best Regards,
Bambu Lab Customer Support”
So it’s not an error, it’s a feature ![]()

I’m escalating the ticket, but I’m not hopeful it’ll go anywhere.
Same issue, and it’s a real change since last update (I don’t know if it’s firmware upgrade or Bambu Studio because I did both at the same time, but Bambu Handy displays compatibility issues…).
It’s very annoying because you can forget to do this extra (useless) manual step to start the print…
I think I found a possible solution. I downgraded the firmware to 1.0.8.0 confirmed everything worked OK (which it did).
I rebooted the printer and upgraded again to 1.0 8 .1 and everything still works!
Hope this helps someone!
I also suspect the issue may manifest itself when upgrading to 1.0.8 0.1 from a version earlier than 1.0.8 0…
Oh thanks! I tried this and it worked perfectly. Like @retsik said, I upgraded from 1.07.02 to 1.08.01 so I experience some issues.
Hope this works for everyone else.
I’ve just tried going back to 1.0.8 0.0 (issue gone) and then redoing the update to 1.0.8 0.1 and for me the issue started straight up again
I will just leave it rolled back at 8.0.0 and hope it goes away in future update. Thanks for all the suggestions
My a1 mini constantly runs into an error when updating so I just don’t even bother about updating it
