Hi. Since the last firmware update (01.08.01.00) my a1 mini has started acting as if new filament has been loaded when trying to print, even though filament is already loaded.
When I go to print it now pauses at the start of the print and asks if the filament is now extruded and then goes through a purge before it will carry on printing. If after a print I turn the printer off for a couple of hours and turn it back on it goes through this again.
Is this there anything I can do to stop this behaviour? I presume it isn’t an intended behaviour?
Seems not a bug to me. I understand the question is about the mini. The A1 potential of overheating the thermister problem lists heating the nozzle & bed separately. A quick visual check of proper filament flow helps assure nozzle mounting & alignment, avoiding blobs in extruder. Why would someone NOT want this?
Just pla basic in use on this one, not used TPU or anything like that.
If it was listing the action as a flow check or something I could get it being a feature, but based on the messages it gives to me it just seems the printer is forgetting it’s already got filament loaded. Also nothing in the firmware notes to suggest it was an intended change (although not to say it couldn’t be an unlisted change).
It’s added the steps push new filament and purge old filament to the workflow after hitting print when using external spool on both the A1 and A1 mini.
I’m no professional and by no means a heavy user but both of these printers have clocked up close to a thousand hrs each and never been an issue before. The prompt isn’t immediate either, so you hit print, forget about it then realise nothing is happening 20 mins later.
I run a couple minis with TPU only. Mine hasn’t done this at all.
I would do a factory reset and redo all calibrations / updating to latest firmware and try again. Maybe there’s some corruption in the firmware somewhere?
Updated Bambu studios to the latest software as well?
Sounds like something in the software of the machine or the software of the slicer is telling it to do this.
I can confirm the same behavior on my A1 (not mini) since updating to firmware 01.08.01.00. At the start of a new print, usually the first print after the printer has been sitting cold, it acts as if fresh filament had just been loaded and asks for confirmation. Sometimes it also throws the 07FF-8007 “failed to extrude” error during the startup sequence. Once the first print goes through, the rest work fine until the next cold start.
This started right after the firmware update, so it looks firmware-related rather than a hardware issue.
I’ve downgraded back to 01.08.00.00 via Bambu Handy and will post an update if the problem comes back.
Same issue started occurring on my bambu lab a1 after the firmware update. Its annoying, Could anyone please help downgrade the firmware version? Any steps or document links would be highly appreciated. Planning to skip this firmware version. Will update here if downgrade works if I can downgrade.
I have a few minis and did NOT have the issue. But I now know what you have to do to make it have the issue.
The LED light on one of them was staying on, not going to sleep. So I recycled power to see if then it would go to sleep.
All my printers for the most part are never shut off, so cycling the power switch caused it to now want to load filament.
Not exactly much help on the issue. But if you did a factory reset and updated firmware, as long as you didn’t cycle the power switch, my theory is you won’t have that issue.
