I do not think the handle tore the box. I believe it received a blow maybe from a forklift. Here the blow hit in an empty place but it could have been elsewhere…
I had to open the box to see if there was any damage inside. I haven’t unpacked the elements of course, but visually they look intact. Maybe the blow was not too strong ?
In any case, I did not find the printer well protected.
How sturdy is the printer and to what extend can it take punishment ? I saw a test video of the A1 printing while dangling from the ceiling…
I sent Bambu Lab a description of the package together with photos of outside and inside(I just opened the box an removed the first level to take them).
I wait for their instructions before going further.
For me it looks like someone poked the box because it didn’t have any support, stuffing inside. If these packages had impact sensors then we would know more. We don’t know anything about dropping the box. I think you are probably safe to use it. Personally I couldn’t stand the extra waiting time for a new printer
I received the answer from Bambu : “Firstly, thank you for sending us all the pictures. In this case, we prefer to proceed with a replacement.”
I understand they don’t take any chances. I choose the express return. This means they will ship me a new one as soon as I make a refundable deposit.
Is this EU? If yes, remember you can ALWAYS return within 14 days of purchase.
That way you can see if it works, and if problems spotted, initiate a return.
@piranha
Thank you for reminding me. I received the package on Tuesday Nov. 21st. and yes I live in France.
I checked the law : the 14 days are counted from the day after the reception of the product which is Dec. 5th.
But I will still have to open a ticket if it does not work properly and I want to return it, which can take forever. And I do not even know if the BBL agent understand europeean law !
This is the ultimate solution. If I still do not have an answer by the end of next week, I will open the box and check the printer. If it works, fine , if not I will do as you suggested.
As of today I do not have any answer from Bambu Lab. They do not work 24/7. They follow standard business hours and there is a 7 hours delay…
I do not understand this, they give you a quick first answer and then they let you hanging in thin air…
The 1st answer is automated. Also its not up to Bambu on how their delivery courier handle the service. From what i see and i do have the A1 too i believe the packaging is way over engineered and overdone. i mean compared to my creality lol Bambu packaging is amazing.
@SPStudio, to answer your post.
1- I was not refeerring to the automated answer but to the one with the name of the agent offering you a solution.
2- On the contrary, it is up to Bambu on how the shipping company handle their parcels because Bambu is responsible that you receive a product in good shape.
3- As about the packaging is “over engineered”, I have seen much better for hightec products. The A1 box has too may voids on the sides. look at the pictures : the blow could have gone all the way through. A solid piece of foam could have prevented this
They do not serve only 1 customer on the help desk and there will be delay like any other brands of printer. How do you think they will be able to ensure the shipping company do not damage your parcel? By assigning 1 bambu staff to follow every shipment from off the assembly line to you house so he can watch over the delivery guy? It is how it is, the package arrived damaged, and bambu will definately help you just give them reasonable time. Many people have their p1s arrived with front glass shattered too, bambu took care of them too.
In my personal opinion, i feel like my a1 is way too overpackage, i can see that bambu took a lot of time to ensure that most A1 arrive safe and sound, i now have a whole bunch of thick foam in the a1 box that i couldnt throw or keep due to possibility in case of a warranty return lol.
@SPStudio,
Yes you are right about the help desk delay. Even though it can be frustrating for a customer waiting for a solution…
Of course I do not ask a Bambu staff to follow each parcel from their depot to your house…
I just say that this is the company responsability to insure that a contracted shipping firm and their employees do their job properly.
That the A1 is way overpackaged, is your entitled opinion, of course. But allow me, with a big hole in my A1 box and a printer I cannot use, to think differently.
Suddenly, yesterday night (their mail date was 00:59), things started to move again !
They apologized for the delay and told me they started the express return procedure.
They sent me the deposit invoice this morning which I paid immediatly. A moment later I received the return label.
I just gave the old printer to the post office.
I received a meesage telling me they will send me the new printer tracking nr. as soon as they have it.
I keep my finger crossed !
