I did my research and bought the A1 mini. After doing so the company changed the way I can use it. I have read and commented on that thread. Can someone tell me If i can use this new machine with using the sd card or do I have to use their cloud and have ■■■■ sent to the printer via their cloud. I am probably going to send it back. Thanks for any help.
The method they advertised as how to use it, like the ones in the instructions, didn’t change.
Yes you can also still use a SD card to print. You can also use lan mode which doesn’t send things through the cloud.
Since it is an A1, none of the “security” changes apply to it yet as that firmware isn’t even in beta.
You can use the SD card now for prints, and seemingly even then (after/if that firmware comes out)…
You can also use LAN Mode if you want network access without the cloud, although this appears to be somewhat dodgy for some people, your YMMV.
Until we know more about what Bambu are actually going to do, and how this new firmware will work, I would not advice upgrading past the current 01.04.
Just send it back and put your foil hat on.
I haven’t taken it out of the box yet but from what I have read it was shipped with the new firmware. I am off all weekend and will get started on it. How can I tell what firmware it’s running?
It would have the latest release firmware (as of time of manufacture), sure, but since the “problem” firmware isn’t even in beta for either the P1 or A1 series of printer… I don’t think you will have that
To check, if the A1 Mini layout is the same as the A1, just go to Settings, scroll to the third page, look for Firmware, and choose that option if it doesn’t show the version number (mine said “Latest” and then changed to the version number). It will then tell you the firmware version for the printer and AMS unit (if present).
