A1 Mini - external spools too heavy?

This is mainly using PETG-CF on the A1 Mini with the external spool (0.6 nozzle).

When the spool gets to it’s highest tension point where it has to make a stronger pull, filament stops extruding. If I push the filament through (while it’s still printing), filament starts extruding again.

PETG-CF feels quite slippery to the touch, so I wonder if the extruder simply can’t grip it to pull it through, especially when the roll is new and at its heaviest.

It’s not a clog, as I can stop printing, and simply load any filament manually and it comes through fine.

Pretty major problem as I have this specific printer as a dedicated CF printer and need to be able to use the external spool. Using the AMS doesn’t have this problem, but I’d prefer not to do this long-term.

Any possible solutions to this?

You should try my mod ! is reversible!

Exact same issue with PETG on the external spool with .6mm nozzle. It extrudes for a tiny bit and loses grip on the filament. Nothing is clogged. I can push the filament through. I’ve had the printer for a little more than a month so there hasn’t been any crazy amount of printing. Using the AMS works fine.
