I have an a1 mini that I contacted support about in December because one of the wires connecting the hot end assembly to the motherboard at the back snapped. The same thing happened 2 nights ago, though I didn’t contact support this time. I have ordered a new hot end assembly but I am wondering if anyone else has this as a problem. I’ve only had the printer for about 5 months now, and going through 2 hot end assemblies in that time seems like a lot.
How are they breaking have you taken the back off for some reason…??
Nope. They are breaking more toward the front of the machine. On the front right side where they lead back. Wish I knew how they were breaking, as I would do something about it. But I’ve no idea.
Oh, and I had to take the back off to replace it the first time this happened, but hadn’t before that. And put it back on after.
I take it all the wires are clipped in & behind the cover.
I would re-watch the video & go through all the pics to double check things…I don’t see how the wire can get cut if it’s installed correctly.
This happened to me today, after many months of flawless printing I got a blob of death. I heated the hot end and as I was removing the massive ball of filament the wire snapped.
Seems the molten filament gets forced into all available space when it comes out of the hot end at 240c (PETG) and when we reheat the hot end to clear the blob, it never gets back to the same heat and boom! Tiny wires snap. New Hotend ordered.
