A1 mini hot end swap problem

I’m following the directions and I’ve removed the silicone sleeve and loosened the clips but the old one will not budge. I don’t want to use a pliers or anything.

Lift it up a little then pull it towards the front of the printer bottom first.

It wouldn’t budge up or down or from the bottom. I could only turn the fins slightly. It appears that the flat area was adhered to the heater. Maybe a bit of PLA got in there. I ended up heating the hot end to 180 and gently pulling on one of the middle fins with a long nose pliers and it popped right off.

I have to ask this…you do know that a magnet holds it onto the back plate…right…??

This is what the back looked like.

I’m not sure how knowing that it was held by a magnet helps?
It came off easily once I heated the hot end to the point where PLA would be extruded, but I couldn’t use my fingers at that point, or rather I did not wish to…

The trick is to heat it up, and then you can remove it easily, immediatly clean both surfaces, before it cools down.
Thats it, easy!

What do you clean it with?

On a related note … when you remove it while it’s still warm, you can also do a “cold pull” which cleans the nozzle from the inside.
