A1 mini in bedroom

I had recently moved to a new apartment and I had to move my 3d printer(a bambu lab a1 mini and an ams lite) to my bedroom. I only print PLA. The room has a small window. Do I need to buy an air purifier or enclose my printer? Are there any other options and are they actually necessary? and what are the main concerns with printing PLA?

If you are just using PLA then it should be fine but it might be worth opening the window just in case.

You should be fine with PLA.

Technically there are tiny particles of discarded material during the printing, but they are very few and far between and there are more hazards from a rotating toilet roll as it discards fibres.

PLA, PETG & TPU are fine.

That said; while minimal, filament emissions can still irritate the throat, nose, and eyes, especially for those with pre-existing respiratory conditions.

Be cautious, open windows when you first start and see how you feel. Make sure the open windows do not cause a draft though.

ABS, ASA and so on are the ones you should avoid. The good news is, you will not easily print them on the A1 mini anyway,.

I have my printer in my bedroom as well. My main problem with it is, now in summer, it tends to warm up the room more than I would like.

Come winter time you will be snuggling up with it.

I have mine in my office next to my computer and haven’t noticed any strange odors yet.

I had it last winter too so not too much snuggling. but I do notice pla smell (I don’t like it). PETG I don’t smell at all. PCTG I don’t smell at all. If that is good for me or not is a different question.

I do try to avoid printing while I am in the apartment.
