Hello,
First of all I’m a complete beginner at 3d printing and the a1 mini is my first printer i have been using it for about 3 weeks now. I now have another mini on the way with an ams lite.
I hope someone here can help me figure out this noise i have been noticing lately. Video
It’s at around the 8s mark in the video, and only seems to happen when the nozzle goes from left to right over the infill. Is this normal and maybe i just never noticed it before?
First i thought it sounded like the extruder gear grinding, so i followed the maintenance wiki to take a look and couldn’t see anything wrong.
I tried a different 3d model and another spool of filament and i still get the noise, but it seems to be almost random. I have been using Esun Pla+.
I should mention that the print finishes without any issues or quality problems, it’s just that sound i am worried about.
Well, your using Gyroid, so that’s good. I don’t see anything wrong from the video, sometimes it just happens…it is possible that a seam is there & the noise will stop after a few layers when the angle changes.
So it doesn’t sound like anything i should be worried about? I’m new to this so i get worried/nervous when i hear noises like that.
I guess as long as it finishes the print with no issues it will be fine for now. I’m going to check on my 2nd A1 mini when that arrives in a day or two, maybe i just never noticed the sound before now.
Yeah, that’s the sound of the nozzle lightly hitting previously-extruded material.
A few light clunks like that is usually fine, and can be ignored.
You get a lot of that if you use “grid” infill, where extrusions in one direction are at the same height as the previous extrusions in the other direction.
Hey all,
I’ve had it happen a few times and in exactly the same manner, it is nerve racking, especially giving its a new printer. Also being new, I thought it was like a belt slip, but if it was there would be layer shifts. if its the head running over previous layers, wouldn’t that mean the Z axis on retraction requires adjusting?
