A1 Mini very hot

Hello, i just receive my A1 Mini, and i have a question, is it normal that she is very hot on the plastic base, and the bottom.
I can’t hold my hand on the plastic on top of the screen because is too hot, and same for the below of the printer.
If i move the printer, i can’t hold my hand on the surface when she was.
The Y, X and E motor are also extremely hot.
I had a dozen of printer since i start 3D printing, including a P1S and it’s the first time everything is so hot.
Apart from that, prints are great and all work good.

Thank you.

No, it shouldn’t be hot to the touch.
You should contact Bambu.

Thank you, i open a ticket.

Hello,
I notice this too. My A1 mini printer is getting very hot during prints.
In a 3 hour print job reach up to 70 degree Celsius at the bottom part of the base.
I open a ticket with Bambu technical department and they said is normal to behave like this. Printer was design with this in mind. They also said the printer should be place in a ventilated area. My printer is 8 months old and I notice this a few weeks back when cleaning the printer. Print quality is very good.
So is normal to be so hot.

For those with A1 standard version, have you noticed if the base of the printer gets very hot?

Thank you, happy to see that it’s not just mine and it’s normal.
I don’t like when all is so hot, so i make a base whith a fan, a support for a fan on the extruder, for motherboard and power supply.

If you turn all the fans up to full speed, do you have a hovercraft then?

My Minis also get very warm. But since they tended to move around, I downloaded a model where you place 4 balls underneath so they don’t slide anymore. This raises the printers, and apparently, they get better airflow from below and don’t get as warm anymore.

Cool mods! My A1 Mini gets pretty hot as well and Bambu knows about it. Thats why they dont recommend using the A1 series printers in an enclosure, the electronics would overheat.

I also thought about a mod to replace the mainboard fan with a Noctua A4 because the og fan is SUPER LOUD and annoying.

And keep in mind that these fans could cause trouble when printing PETG, because especially the big fan (I think 140 or 160mm) will definitly give at least some airflow on your printbed, which could lead to stability problems. But since no of your fans are pushing air directly onto the printbed, I have no big concerns

One question of mine: did you buy all of those noctuas just for your printer? In Germany those 5 fans would cost around 80€

No, i only buy 2 of them, i already have 3.
The big one is 200mm and he is totally covered buy the printer so it can’t blow on the bed.
I see a lot of people say that the motherboard fan i very loud, but i can’t hear mine. I have to open the printer to see if he is connected

I constantly hear that the printers are so loud. Well, if you consider the A1 series from Bambu to be loud, then none of you must have a Kobra 2 or Kobra 3 at home.
Lol

Okay makes sense then.

Well mine gets really loud when turning the printer on. After 10minutes of standby, the fan turns off.

And A1 Mini is my first printer, so no comparison.

Maybe there is a problem with the fan on my printer because i can’t tell if it spin or not, i have to open the printer

I yes, compare to dozen of printer i try since i start, it’s completly silent.

Is super fun your printer  very cool!

Well, I have two A1 Minis, and they do get warm. But even with prints over 10 hours, I wouldn’t say they get hot.

loud is true, but hot is abnormal

I replaced the stepper fan with 1 Noctua 40x40x10 sucking the Air out.
Now its so much more silent and I get 48-51 °C on top of case (the plastic above the stepper drivers)
