For those of you that have both the A1 and A1 mini, how are they in comparison? Specifically the noise level.
I’m sitting here printing on the P1S, flashforge adventurer 5m Pro and A1 mini and I just realized I can’t hear much of anything coming from my mini. The Adventure 5M Pro is the loudest(fans, just the regular fan that’s on when the system is on, not printing, is plenty loud).
I just really enjoy how smooth and quiet the mini is, wondering if the full size A1 is similar.
I have an X1 and an A1 and the A1 is much quieter. From the next room I can hear the X1 but have to be in the same room to be able to tell the A1 is running.
I had the A1 mini and A1 (which went back due to recall), and I now have a couple of P1S printers.
The A series is quieter than the P series. The A series gained extra anti-noise calibration at launch, it works well.
The A1 mini and A1 were pretty much the same noise level.
The bigger build-plate of the A1 means that the head and build-plate could move further in each direction, and could add a tiny amount in terms of speed if it were able to hit the highest speed.
If you like the A1 mini for noise, the A1 will be roughly the same.
Love my A1, I was looking at the mini but my old printer was a 220x220, downscaling I didn’t like the idea of and the 256x256 is what made me move towards the A1.
I personally don’t like the idea of a floating arm either that the A1 mini has, weight of the hotend moving to the far left worries me of quality issues, not that iv seen or heard of this, but it must happen.
I have the A1, 100 hours on it and still going strong with no issues. It has a few very minor quirks but it’s not an issue, just kind of funny. Seems like it is built to last a long time, super solid frame and steel parts. Shell is plastic but feels very durable. Take good care of it and I feel confident it will take care of you, no matter which unit you choose.
P.S. Don’t let the A1 recall scare you, they fixed the issue and the power cable has been beefed up, looks like a water hose now.
A1 is larger but you have to build it. A1 Mini comes preinstalled but is only 180x180x180 mm. So do you want to work for a larger bed? Or be chill with a smaller bed.
I’d call it more like ‘assemble’ as opposed to build it.
Watching my A1mini print, it’s so smooth and quiet, quite impressive.
To give you an idea how supported the gantry is, during a print, I’ve removed my poop chute and bumped it and the print head, didn’t mess up the print.
Printing a big(get) project than normal, all printers involved, multiple types of filament. A1 mini just ran out of PLA basic orange. Thought I had another roll, alas, I don’t not…
It was going to be a two color print anyways, just hadn’t decided on second color. Apparently it’s going to be black…
BTW, if you have not seen this thread yet, add a like to the main post to be informed when it launches and the price.
When launched, it will turn an A1 mini into a machine capable of automatically removing the completed print build-plate and putting another one on the printer to continue printing as many plates as you added to the queue.
I have a review unit and it is excellent.
It turns the A1 mini into essentially a conveyor belt work-horse.
