Would people with multiple AMS 2 Pro’s connected to an A1 share their setup?
Feel free to comment on my setup. I don’t like the unsupported length of the PTFE tube going to the print head, but it’s about as short as it can be to cover the range of movement of the print head.
Is anyone using the BL stock setup of the buffer mounted on the gantry with multiple AMS’s?
FWIW, the most materials I’ve used is 5, but I have a lot of different filaments loaded so I can print whatever I want/need without loading and unloading. I dedicate 3 of the AMS’s to PLA and one to PETG so I can dry depending on the filament type. It’s also handy to have a slot to load a backup spool when one is about to run out.
I purposely only connect 1 AMS to my A1 mini and A2L, so I have no personal experience or setups to share. I only connect multiple AMS units to my many P1S printers, partly due to the convenience of placing an AMS on the top and on the side.
As you are likely aware, the shorter the PTFE tubes, the faster the multiple colour prints are, and the swapping between single filaments.
You can achieve this by using one or more AMS stacker, there are many to choose from, this is one, I have not used it myself.
Remember, the A1 series hub doesn’t need to be positioned on the right of the printer.
You could add a shelf above the printer, align three printer above it and run the hub below and into the head of the A1.
Judging by your pole, I assume you can mount a shelf and relocate the hub.
With one AMS left, one centre and one right of the printer, this would likely be the shortest path achievable.
Just thoughts.
Those with your multiple AMS situation will likely provide better real world solutions.
I agree with your not mounting the buffer on the gantry, I’ve done something similar. There is a shelf immediately above and behind my A1 that holds an AMS 2 Pro, an AMS-HT and the original AMS Lite (I switch between the two systems) and I mounted the buffer on the leg of the shelf with all the input tubes and cables motionless. I wasn’t comfortable with the gantry dragging all those tubes and cables up and down. The Bambu Lab arrangement is just not well thought out.
