A1 Purge At End Of Print

I have been doing a 3 color print through several iterations (reprinting over and over from touch screen), and I just caught the printer purging like 60-65cm of filament at the end of the print.

The plate was complete, having laid down the last layer of color and the last color used had emptied the spool, so there was no filament in the AMS Lite gears. But there was still some 60cm of filament in the PTFE tube. The A1 then proceeded to purge over and over again until the PTFE was empty and the filament had run out.

This seems like a weird corner case where the A1 and AMS Lite could not cut and retract, so it just kept purging/wasting filament out. I don’t have a solution here, but the A1 with AMS Lite already has a reputation as a bit of a wasteful printer in terms of poops. This behavior does not do much to dissuade that assessment.

I guess the only true non wasteful way of mitigating this problem is actively waiting for the roll to go empty. Then just before it happens do an unload of the filament. Then promptly swap out the roll.

Then you can claim your 65cm of filament.

ME: either way its going in the bin. :slightly_smiling_face:
