I’m surprised by the current FAQ. ( FAQ of the Bambu Lab A1 recall | Bambu Lab Wiki )
The following sentence now stands there:
“The validity period for the discount code is 90 days from the time they are issued.”
On the Bambu Lab A1 Printer Recall Registration site is written (Anmelden - Bambu lab ):
" Option 1: Return the A1/A1 Combo and receive a full refund, including a $80 discount code.
We will promptly process the refund and provide you with the $80 discount code once the returned printer arrives to us. This discount can be used towards the purchase of the A1 Mini, P1, and X1 series, and will also apply to the A1 once it becomes available around May."
So my question is: if I register now for Option 1 and I get a discount code, this will be already expired before the new overworked A1 will be available. Is the 90 days period for the discount code from the FAQ, an oversight and will it be corrected?
I think everyone with an A1 has received an email with more details. from Bambu. Yes, it’s 90 since the time they confirmed receiving your box. This can take up to a couple of weeks. If you send it next week, you will probably get a discount code near the end of the month. Then 3 months (90 days) will be around the end of May.
Now, they might postpone the release, or there might be some unforeseen delays, we never know. So the deadline is tight. But they also might be slow in giving out those discount codes after receiving the boxes. They are kind of overwhelmed.
That sucks. But ok. The one thing I can’t find is can we use the code on things outside of printers. Like lets say I buy a printer today without the code. When I get the code, could I just use it to buy parts for the printer that I want or does it apply only to printers.
The $80 is valid for printers only, while the $120 is valid for anything.
That’s what it says here A1 Recall Update
The email they sent also suggests the same.
$80:
It is valid for 3 months and can be used for purchasing any printer model available on the Bambu Lab official web store.
vs $120:
It is valid for 3 months and can be used for purchasing any products on the Bambu Lab official web store.
Whether that is enforced or if it’s just a standard $80/120 gift card valid for anything is unknown right now. It’s possible they are just saying the $80 is for printers only to encourage you to spend more money on a $300-1500 printer rather than just grabbing $80 of free accessories or filament.
it is definitely worth the latter, 40 more bucks, 6 more warrantee months, less waiting time, and it takes literally 3 minutes, even for someone technologically impaired, since all you really have to do is remove 4 rubber plugs and 5 bolts and some glue.
I point blank asked the support this yesterday and hopefully I will get an answer by the time I wake up tomorrow.
Like it would be stupid of them to make it only for printers because some of us might not jump to that $1000+ printer if we can’t use it on anything. Since otherwise we will be burning that money or waiting without a printer for maybe half a month or more.
Anyways, I doubt they care about someone getting $80 worth of filament or whatever. You can throw a few popular models on their distribution site and end up getting the $40 code 2 times.
Valid concern but most likely you will get the same message, as you’re not the only one who asked. As stated in the email, blog, reddit and other social media, the option to get a refund comes with a code that can be used on printers only (any series including this A1).
That’s why it was a no brainer for me to go with the second option, also because packaging and sending it is a quite the task, and I need to add extra money, more like double of A1, just for any of the P1/X1 series with AMS. And I like the A1, I don’t want to change it, just to get another one in May.
