What is everyone doing?
I got the printer a week ago and the cable was fine. I printed the cable guard before using the printer.
Bambu extending the callback to all printers sounds like it might be a bigger issue?
They say only 0.1% of the printers are affected, which is weird given the new call back on all printers…
I’m not sure I want to return the printer or stop using it. The bed assembly change looks like a tedious process if I want to go through the manual fix later on.
I’m opting for the bed replacement so that when I receive the 120$ voucher I can buy the AMS lite for almost half off.
I think it’s out of an abundance of caution. While it probably has affected very few people so far, it’s difficult for end users to fully evaluate the condition of the cable. I bet they get enough people contacting into support, and noise here on the form of people confused on what’s going on, that the best action at that point was to pull everything in and make sure it’s taken care of, and not just left in the hands of someone that may not understand how to deal with it or know what to look for.
Although, considering how the damage happens, or how they explain it to happen, even if one runs their printer safely for years, there’s no guarantee that it wont accidentally get damaged in the same manner down the road.
My father has an A1, and he’s doing the bed swap down the road bit. I can totally understand why others wouldn’t find that attractive though. This whole situation truly sucks.
I can’t create my own topic so I am replying here -
I haven’t had the heatbed cable issue this recall is about, but I did have a bad issue come up over the weekend. The cable to the extruder keeps moving around when the printhead moves up and down, and as a result, over the weekend it got caught under the hotend. This caused the printer to shutdown to prevent further issues, which is good, but it also burned through the insulation on that cable. I have also been struggling repeatedly to keep the spacer from slipping down and getting caught between the printhead and the filament cutter - causing an error that the filament can’t be cut and stopping any prints.
Like this printer, and it’s really high quality normally, but these issues keep happening and it’s scary that the insulation was melted off resulting in a bare wire.
You aren’t recalling those parts, but you should know that there are some issues.
