A1 suddenly doesn't connect to App via wifi, only via hotspot or guest wifi

Hey everyone,

my A1 suddenly doesn’t connect to the internet through my wifi anymore, although it’s connected to the wifi. Everything worked without problems for months up until last weekend.

Here are the symptoms:

  • the printer is connected to my wifi
  • it’s accessing the wifi through a repeater, but it always did that
  • it’s shown as connected to the internet on my router
  • it’s shown as offline in the mobile app and in studio on PC
  • I can ping it from my PC without problems
  • when logging out of my account on the printer and trying to log in again, the printer can’t produce a QR code and can’t be connected via “nearby devices”
  • it all works fine when connecting the printer to a hotspot on my phone
  • it seems like it also works fine when connecting the printer to the guest wifi of the router, instead of the normal one
  • all the other devices on the network work fine, even through the wifi-repeater the printer uses

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • restarted the router
  • restarted the printer
  • logged out of my account and logged in again on the printer, phone and PC
  • reset the printer to factory settings
  • disconnected the AMS lite
  • deactivated the Pihole-DNS I use for adblocking, which I set up again with a new OS the other week. That’s the only thing I changed on my network before this problem occured afaik, but deactivating the DNS doesn’t help, so maybe that’s not it.
  • assigned the printer a static IP address
  • split the wifi in two separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5GHz

I’m thankful for any advice!

Do you see an IP assigned on the wifi options on the printer? like in the expected range of ips, i.e. 192.168.x.x

Yes, the printer shows me the same IP the router assigned for it and it’s an expected range.

weird, but I would suspect about a rule on the router :thinking: but not sure how to investigate more

I thought so, too, but I didn’t change anything on the router except the DNS-address, since it changed after setting up the Pihole again. But even deactivating the DNS completely doesn’t help.

It seems like it works fine when connecting the printer to the guest wifi of the router and not to the normal wifi, but I don’t have an idea where to go from here.

Not being able to gen the QR codes for quick bind generally means that the device cannot contact the mothership / bambu’s servers. If your router gives you denial logs, look thru them and see what it’s been blackholing…

If everything works like it’s supposed to when on Guest but not when connected to your main wi-fi that sounds like a rule/site range issue to me.Your Guest side is pretty much completely open? IPV 4 and or IPV 6? Did a password get changed on the main side or any tweaks to IPV? When you disabled Pihole, did you reboot everything thing, flush DNS if your setup allows that before testing? I agree with @Bullocks and his (?) suggestions.

My issues resolved after disabling everything IPV6 related on my PC. I can once again send files in seconds instead of hours!
