A1 won't wake up but otherwise works just fine? 😳

Lately my Bambu Labs A1 will put the display to sleep and start pulsing its power indicator but then won’t “wake up” when I tap the display.

The display works just fine and while it is “awake” is recognizing being touched! While it’s “awake” I can fully navigate around with the display. It just won’t “wake up” if it’s already “asleep”.

To make things even stranger, the printer will still accept print jobs from Bambu Studio and Bambu Handy even if it’s “asleep”. But even accepting, starting, printing, and fully completing a print job will not wake it up! It still thinks it’s “asleep” (pulsing power light and display off) the whole time.

Once it’s “asleep”, the only thing that will “wake it up” is turning it off and back on again.

VERY STRANGE

How have you been able to wake it up?

Normally you wake it up by just tapping on the screen. But that doesn’t seem to work anymore. And, yes, the screen still works just fine - when it’s already awake.

Okay but how are you getting the screen to wake up? Are you restarting the printer to get the screen to respond? Or are you sending a job to the printer and that wakes up the screen?

Have you updated the firmware recently? How’s the health of the printer’s SD card? Somewhere in this community there’s a post about this exact thing, and the fix was to use a good working SD card.

I’m having the same problem. The screen will not wake up no matter how many times I tap on it or if I restart it still doesn’t help yet I’m able to print through the app still did you find out what the issue is or is there a fix for it?

Same problem with my a2 very stange

Has this been resolved? Was it the SD card?

The only thing that unfreezes the screen is turning it off and back on.

For curiosity sake, do people with screen wake up problems have screen protectors installed or printed modifications around the screen such as covers or “bumpers”?

To my knowledge, this is not been resolved. And I’m seeing a lot of other people out on Reddit who are having the same problem. To add a new wrinkle it seems that the screen isn’t going to sleep so much as it is freezing. I’ve had it freeze with whatever it was displaying last. Never updating. Not responding. Nothing, until I turn it off and then back on again.

I had it happen with my A1 for the first time today. Definitely nothing added to the display, or anywhere near it. It’s just stock.

What firmware version?

01.08.01.00

The printer is quite new and has only received that one update since I purchasd it.
