Abnormal noises while printing

Hello!
I received my printer a week ago (02.02), and from the very beginning it has been making strange noises while printing while my friends’ X1C runs noticeably quieter.

I’ve already tried following things without any luck:

  • changing the substrate on which the printer stands;
  • recalibrations (both complete and just noise cancellation);
  • changing XY belt tensions (and even I’ve checked Z belt tension);
  • complete cleaning and re-lubrication of carbon rods, lead screws and linear rails;
  • changing many settings in OrcaSlicer (fans, temperatures, speeds);
  • changing filament (for now I’ve tried BambuLab, Fiberlogy, Devil Design and Spectrum PLAs and PETGs);

Of course everything were done according Bambu Wiki.

Here are some pics and videos (there are Pastamatic elements): Bambu noises - Google Drive

I’ve already made support ticket but still waiting for response.

Hello!

@bakusiovskyyyy Did you get a response on you ticket?
I watched - or better listened to - your videos.

My P1S seems to create a similar noise.
Your printer may be a bit louder.
So far I was not able to locate the source of it.
Could be tool head, could be belt/pulley, what so ever.

I asked my local German distributor for technical support in this matter.

Would be nice if you could keep us updated here.
I can do the same as soon as I am in contact with technical support.

Hi!
Yes, I received a response from support yesterday. In a nutshell, they are betting on a flow rate problem (over-extrusion). Personally, I reject this, as I have the flow properly calibrated (on the engineering plate, not the textured one). They also recommended cleaning the carbon rods (How to clean the carbon rods for Bambu Lab Printers | Bambu Lab Wiki) and “printing plate using hot water and a non-soap-based detergent. Ensure a comprehensive rinse before reinstalling the plate onto the printer”.

But… Before I got a response, I cleaned the carbon rods again with a lot of IPA, re-lubricated linear rails and re-tensioned XY belts. And the problem seems to be gone. I’m not sure but maybe the printer needed to get a bit of a kickstart, no idea. I think you can try to do the same things I did :smiley: Anyway, at this point the printer works as it should, all the problems are gone. I’ll definitely monitor the next few prints to see if the problem returns for sure.

Thanks you for the answer! I will try to replicate the steps you did.

I did not expect that I have to service the machine that way after 50 hours of printing.
Anyway, I hope that I can fix it that way too :wink:

Ups, forgot to write a final comment on this topic a whiel ago:
Got the advice from local support to put some grease on rods. Did that and - additionally - checked/adjusted belt tension and put a drop of oil on pulleys next to belt tensioners. After that the printer noise was gone.
Happy again :slight_smile:
