ABS Small Holes On Sides

Hi everyone,

First time ever printing with ABS, I started with some simple benchies but unfortunately I see small gaps/holes on the higher layers of the print. Any ideas what could be the problem? The filament was just opened now, so I’m not sure if it is a moisture issue.
I already did the calibration steps, not much changed between the two models.
Also, there seems to be some stringing, so I thought maybe retraction setting could help?

Don’t assume filament from the packaging is dry.

Do you have your seam set to random?

Hm, yes it still could be wet. For me what is strange thet these disformations only come up from the midle of the model.

Here are my seam settings:

I’m still waiting for my filament dryer. So I started to play around with the retraction settings. The idea came from this YouTube video:

And took the retraction setting from the default 1.4mm to 1mm, then to 0.6mm.

Here are the results, the last version in the back is very smooth but there are still some marks on it, this could be because of wetness I’m not sure, I might go down a bit more to 0.4 retraction.
