ABS Tree Support keeps failing / ripping

Hello Forum,

printing on H2D with bambulab ABS at 0.08 extra fine, print speed 50%
8 wall-lines, 10mm support brim, 1mm z-hop.
other than that, default settings.

i keep having my support fail.
they break, they rip… its always a huge mess and they hardly do their job.

is this normal ?
is ABS still a challenge ??

or would you feel like you would print such objects with no problems ??

is there any way to stabilize the support trees ?
giving them thicker walls or such ?

There is a “Tree Strong” option for Tree supports.

the tree strong looks weirdly “much”… but i will give it a try on the next print.

mainly i would be interested to hear if this is a common thing with ABS.

do other people have no issues printing large organic objects in ABS ?

for my supports failing, i wish there would be a way to have more wall lines in the lower areas…

I’ve done a fair bit of large ABS printing with supports and I can’t say I’ve ever had issues like yours. Couple things I would suggest.

  • Make sure your bed is clean. Dawn and hot water to give your support trunks the best possible chance of staying positioned correctly.
  • Not all areas need support. You can paint support blocker on as often support will generate for small over hangs that will pretty pretty well without it.
  • If you’re really struggling with tree support you might consider regular supports as they have a very solid base.

i changed the nozzle and it was much better..

i almost had a working print comming in, and then the next fail:

the fan is not working right anymore.

i am so tired of this printer. it gives me nothing but problems.
