When arranging material in the machine, I have to wait until I sit down to begin the process of taking a picture.
It would go a lot smoother. With the current setup, every time I want to do a layout, I have to manually take a picture and wait for that cycle to happen before I get to move on.
I would suggest either:
Add a “take bird’s eye image” button to the screen of the printer (or use the hardware button on top), so that by the time you’re back at your desk, the image is ready
or
The printer could take a picture preemptively whenever the door is closed. This could be optional, or even have a “cancel image” prompt on the screen, but getting the picture started would speed up my workflow a lot - and for minimal effort on your side.
Interesting thought.
It literally takes ages to get the image into Bambu Suite.
I would think that simply optimizing the image process would help also to reduce the wait time a lot.
I think that the power to the BEV Camera is cut, when not in use.
So when Bambu Studio asks for a preview, it powers up the camera, and at that moment the image has to stabilize before it can be shot.
There is of course also a skew correction in the image processing, but that shouldn’t take that long nowadays.
So your option 2 would be a good idea in my opinion. So not only taking the image, but also do all the corrections.
But now I am thinking of it, the skew correction is based on BEV Camera calibration data (residing in the printer) and the material thickness parameter (residing in Bambu Suite).
So I wonder how this is processed. But I would say, that if all the preprocessing that needs to be done on the printer has already been done when you sit down and ask for the image.
