Adding AMS 2 Pro to X1C and using with AMS 1

I have ordered a AMS 2 Pro for my X1C, and want to also use it with my existing AMS 1 on the X1C. Do I need to order a special “kit” to make this happen? and additional HUB? the ordering instructions are confusing to me - can someone please help, so I can order any needed parts, kits, pieces, firmware etc.

If you have the X1C with the filament buffer…


… you’ll need to replace that with the AMS hub…

… that will allow up to 4 AMS/AMS2Pro/AMS HT to be connected.
Some recommend the 4-to-1 adapter but for simplicity and one less thing dangling on the back of the printer, I’d just get the AMS hub.

If you have the filament buffer for your AMS connected to the X1C, then you simply need a (self rpinted) PTFE-Splitter or the Bambu 4-in-1 Adapter (as @Jenkins wrote) to connect the AMS 2 Pro in addition to the AMS. I had run such a setup since months on my P1P.

The expensive AMS Hub is not required anymore.

So, I got the “expensive” hub, connected as per instructions, with the AMS PRO 2 only connected-
The printer (X1C) now fails to function - it fails to extrude filament, filament just loads, fails, unloads, and keeps doing this until the filament is a tangled mess. Checked the hub spring as per the failure message on the screen that pops up, I see that spring flexing as described, until it jams up and the whole thing fails. Checked the filament reel for jams, it was jammed, rather than clear the tangle, I simply replaced that filament with another new roll, which promptly jammed and tangled, also in the same way…

Removed the expensive hub and replaced it with the old, existing filament buffer, and now the printer works again perfectly, even the tangled roll of filament, but I can only use one AMS unit at a time- this is not what I paid for.

Did I miss something on installation of the new hub? is a new firmware required before the new hub works properly?
If I just add a 3dprinted 4-into-1 gizmo, am I going to be able to select which AMS unit to use? What about the heating option, I haven’t bought the power supply for that yet, but will hold off until I get this figured out…

Is a change of firmware in order to make the Hub act properly?

Yes. The selection is made in the software and executed via the 4-/6-pin cable(s). If connected correctly (well…), OrcaSlicer or Bambu Studio will detect the printer and the connected AMS(s), that is if the X1 has the correct firmware as stated above. If not a RFID-roll you have to define the roll(s) as always on the printer or in the slicer on the device tab. You sync the printer with the AMSs in your slicer. You chose the roll, the slicer does the rest.Very easy, very convenient

I don’t own an X1, but the correct firmware shall give you the option to heat the AMS2 as stated in the WIKI. Right on the printer.
