I’ve got a weird issue with my new X2D that I seem to be alone in experiencing, as I haven’t been able to find a single post describing the same problem. There seems to be an additional fan somewhere in the back of the printer that spins up as soon as a print starts and produces a fairly noticeable grinding/buzzing noise. This one fan alone makes the printer significantly louder than any FDM printer I’ve owned so far. It’s actually loud enough that I’m starting to consider moving the printer out of my office, which would be a shame since I have a dedicated spot for it on a rock-solid marble slab that’s pretty much the perfect size for the machine.
I’ve tried tracking down which fan it is by going through all available fan controls in the printer settings and lowering or disabling them one by one, but no luck. Whatever is making this noise seems to be built into the machine and not directly controllable through software. I’ve also rewatched a bunch of X2D reviews to see whether anyone mentioned this particular noise, but so far I haven’t found anything.
I’d really like to identify the component responsible, either to see whether it’s something I can fix myself or, more realistically, whether it’s a case for Bambu Lab support to replace the part. This is probably a separate issue, but I’ve also noticed that the aux fans seem to ramp up much more aggressively than they did on my old P2S. Maybe that’s normal behavior on the X2D, but it definitely caught me by surprise. I’d be curious to hear whether other X2D owners have noticed the same thing.
