Look, took less than 12 hours to prove this point… and now imagine your David or Venus getting flagged all the time by people who consider art NSFW and you having to open tickets constantly. Like I said, these commercials used to run in the middle of the afternoon in Germany.

So, I removed the links to the “Fa Duschgel” videos on YouTube and if this still gets flagged, we’ll need to discuss which words exactly are so inappropriate. Unless, I’m not allowed to mention socio-cultural differences between countries and how that will impact community policing of content.

Why the US? Why not France… where people in movies get out of bed the way people get out of bed in real life as opposed to with a blanket wrapped around them… without the movies getting R rated for it but staying G or PG. They got a different rating system over there so just sticking with something easier to understand for Americans

Or maybe Germany… which much like France isn’t as uptight about things of this nature… here three ads you’d see on tv in the afternoon, 1994, 1998 and 2001 respectively. Basically, a time of day that would require you to have G rated content. That’s when kids got home from school and you’d have a couple of hours of kids shows (what would be Saturday morning cartoons in the US essentially).

Now, what Germany did do at the same time, since the 70s/80s already, was cut kids tv when it was deemed too violent. Captain Future (Capitaine Flam in France) was a prime example of that. This Japanese anima of the 80s got cut to a point where entire plot lines didn’t make sense anymore. In the US that would just stay in; no matter blue or red state; however, not even the 2001 shower gel ad (topless only) would ever be allowed on tv in the US.
