Advantage of AMS HT vs Sunlu (and other 3rd party)

Hi

What are the advantages of the AMS HT vs the Sunlu Filadryer S2?

Sunlu is half price and available right away. What will I get in addition if I wait for the AMS HT and pay double the price?

I was planning on the AMS HT and I am happy to pay the extra price, if it gets me some advantages.

Thanks

  • Goes up to 85°C instead of 70°C → Advisable for basically any material other than PLA and PETG
  • Rotates spool while drying for more homogeneous drying, don’t know how much difference that makes
  • Actively exchanges wet air for fresh dry air. Something that many cheap dryers ignore, so that drying can stalls when filament contains too much water
  • Works as a full AMS slot with autoloading.

Disadvantages:

  • Drying can only be activated from printer
  • Currently no dry while print, but that could change
  • Price

That’s a bummer, I wish it can run standalone as well.

Higher temp is definitely a big positive.
As is fresh air exchange, drying simply won’t work properly without it.

Not being able to dry while printing is a mystery to me, why have such a limitation!? Hopefully there’ll be a sw update for this then. But I’m not holding my breath for that one. Typically one of those things we users wait for forever

AMS HT it is then. Thanks!
