Advice on what is making these supports so hard to remove

Hi all,

See the photo. These supports are really really hard to remove. I am using tree but they just won’t come off. The first part snaps off but they are almost fused to the print.

Thanks for any advice.

I have never gotten tree to come off well. They seem to have a stronger bond with the model that other parts of the model. Luckily for me, I can paint on normal supports in small areas and for most geometry they come right off.

Wow… one of the things that I admire about the Bambu slicer and printer combo is that the automatic supports (either regular or organic) are easy to remove.

If all those saliences are supports , something is wrong with the slicer or printer.
Can you please provide more info? At least:
Filament and slicer print screens of the generated supports?
Did you edit bthe support settings?

Thanks for coming back. I had been finding them easier to remove but for this piece they are harder, Here are my settings. Thanks for any help.

TY for sharing. I am lost in this one.

Is PLA? and what was the print orientation? I only notice suçppports on one side.
Your print seems to sink into the supports, and thus that mess. You can solve the issue by reducing the threshold angle or painting the support location.

Hi. Yes Bambu matte pla. And you are right, it was a big piece and I didn’t have many options in orientation but you point on prints sinking onto supports is a great one! I think I will cut the model and then print again.

So the settings I have look ok though?

Thanks again

Josh

Probably in this case it will be better to switch to Support W interface filament. In that case you use water to dissolve the interface.

I am not seeing the print slicing, but your layout can work well if I understand correctly.
However, it will require supporting earlier, possibly already in the walls, so that you will reduce the load from the top surface.

Even better is to use the PLA support filament. You may use it only on the interface between the support and print, and supposedly (I didn’t test it) will facilitate the support removal.

This is part of achieving the ideal print settings for a project.

this is what I am using. Thanks again

Ive found that in order to get the supports to remove easily, I have to set the top z & bottom z distance to .25. I have a simple print for calibrating supports. I dont have pictures of it on my phone, but it looks like a 4 laying on its side. I think its available on printables. Id run that to verify correct settings.

Hi. I also have problems removing the supports in PLA. The supports stick a lot to the original piece and even deforms some lines.

I have the printer for two weeks.

thanks!

Careful - Bambu’s Support-W is NOT water soluble PVA, it is a breakaway support interface.
