I’ve seen stuff about people saying how affiliate links aren’t allowed. Someone in the comments section of my latest model asked me what filament it is. I want to send them my referral link, which gives both of us $10 coupons, but I’m not sure if I’m allowed to. I sent it to them in a private message for the time being, but I don’t want to seem like I’m ghosting them in the comments section. Any thoughts?
Just put the filament used in the comment section, without any links.
Yeah, but it gives them a coupon as well so I’d like to link if possible.
Posting the filament used in the comments shows that you are not ghosting the user. You already sent them a DM with the link, so if they decide to buy it, they know where to look for the filament and can use the coupon. If you post the link in the comments, you run the risk of your model being taken down.
Another way to do that would be something like:
“I’ve used Fancy Filament PLA+ Very fancy edition. You can get them from the usual places, like their fancyfilament(dot)store. I also have an affiliate link which gives a coupon on purchase and I get a kickback. If you’d like me to send it your way, DM me please”
I think that’s within platform guidelines and requires consent from the user since they’d be the ones initiating the action.
I’d second Johnny_Bit on that. They don’t want people being dodgy, so as long as you’re disclosing and doing within an appropriate context, you should be fine.
But some folks have patreaon links to paid memberships for their models in the bio.
Very suspicious? I would have thought that this is not allowed according to the makerworld rules. But the MW folks do some strange things, maybe some have their own business in the business :). But BBL Labs also think they have invented the Core XY design.
AS I read it only links to the Bambu Maker Shop is allowed.
I’m sure Big Filament gives you kickbacks. Probably going to give you a corner office once they take over the world.
