Has anyone run into this issue? My X1C detects the smooth PEI plate ID just fine, but it won’t detect the Textured PEI plate ID.
The wiki suggested cleaning the plate, cleaning the camera lens (more than once), recalibrating the printer. None of those things fixed the issue. The Bambu AI says it may be due to the modified plate
“If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it might be related to the experimental nature of the PEI plate detection feature mentioned in the firmware notes. The smooth high temperature plate may work better with the detection system due to its more uniform surface.”
Well, nuts. Nope, a factory reset did not resolve the issue. It’s annoying, since the thing doesn’t check for that until several minutes into its print startup process.
This happened to me as well, but it happened intermittently. What fixed it for me was a good, and I mean GOOD plate cleaning, plenty of dish soap, and plenty of elbow grease. The plate didn’t seem dirty to me, but somehow it was throwing the machine off.
You can make the plate check happen earlier with an edit to the printer preset.
Near the end of the Machine Start G-code there is a section labelled “check scanner clarity”. It can safely be moved up to run just after “reset machine status”.
