After printing, sometimes there are some print traces left on the PEI plate, and these materials get into the texture of the PEI, which cannot be cleaned by washing or wiping. When printing with different colored materials, they will stick to the surface of the new parts, making them look dirty. Is there any way to clean the residues on the print bed?
Often asked.
Warm water and normal dish soap (cheap stuff).
- Rub well
- Rinse thoroughly
- Dry completely
Thank you for your suggestion, I’ll give it a try.
I tried using detergent to wash repeatedly and used a cleaning sponge to wipe, but still couldn’t remove these marks.
I think maybe it’s because I mainly use PETG material, which is harder to clean off.
These residues sticking to the PEI sheet will be partially stuck down by the parts printed next time, like unsightly stains.
I keep Isopropyl alcohol close to the printer. After each print I do a light scrub with it on microfiber. No scratches and the plate is clean and smooth (well… smooth as a PEI sheet can be).
I have no issues even with thin prints large as the print bed (admittedly it’s just 180x180)
Try putting it in the freezer for a few hours and then flexing the flat gently.
Rub your blade across it (came with printer).
Empathise on light or you can rub away the texture.
The problem with iso cleaning is if you don’t do it correctly, you will end up damaging the plate. Look for some isopropyl YouTube cleaning tip videos.
The other issue you can have is you just move the contaminate around rather than removing it.
I also use just a few drops of alcohol and with the light touch it is preserving the plate while removing most “debris” and oils.
But of course from time to time my plate is following the prescribed hot bath with a few drops of dish soap.
If cleaning is not working try printing a single layer over the entire plate.
In Bambu Studio create a cube that covers your entire plate and set height to 0.2mm.
Print with the same material that is stuck to your plate (e.g PETG), preferably in a contrasting colour.
Once printed, let it cool completely then peel it off in one piece and you’ll hopefully see any residue it cleaned off.
All those cleaning tips are nice for debris, but the OP is having residual PETG. no cleaner will remove that.
The tips from @nadnerb33 and @MalcTheOracle make much more sense.
I only use a smooth plate and had no problems so far. In the future, you could apply glue stick as suggested by BambuLab. That should help to remove the prints without residue.
Methyl ethyl ketone, cyclohexanone, dichloromethane, and toluene can dissolve PETG, but I’m not sure if they can dissolve PEI."
虽然我尝试了多种方法,还是没能完全去除干净,可能PETG材料已经更深的嵌入了PEI材料中。不够已经不会被粘下来,影响新的打印。
