I am using my X1 Carbon for a little more than 2 weeks now. A few days ago I started to print with PETG on the textured PEI sheet and everything worked great. But yesterday after taking out the textured PEI sheet I found bubbles underneth the magnetic sticker on the printbed. I tried to squeeze them but wasn’t able to. When I was trying to print with PLA on the cold plate today the first layer in the are with the bubbles was way too high and the filament more or less scratched off. I tried to poke a hole in the magnetic sticker to get the air out but that also didn’t work.
Has anybody the same issue? Is there anything I can do about it?
sorry to get back to you so late, I was on a trip.
I opened a ticket with the support and they have sent me a new heatbed, but I didn’t get any information about why or how it happened.
As the switch is a major undertaking I haven’t had the time to do it yet.
Hi bbizzy,
thanks for reply. It’s a pleasure to know that you have solved the problem and the support send you a replacement.
Yes, I have seen the replacement procedure and it is a bit long and perhaps even demanding.
It is a mystery why and how it is happened, because until two day ago the printer works very well. If they are air bubbles, where did they come from if the magnetic plate was well attached before?
Now I’m waiting for support reply and I hope they fix my problem like they did for you.
Thanks a lot.
You can pierce it with a needle and push the air out, I was suggested to do this by Bambu support. It’s totally safe as there is aluminum plate underneath magnetic sticker. It makes sense to do if your bed is otherwise flat. Plenty of people with warped banana beds in which case you want to replace it anyway. However replacement beds seem to mostly be bananas too.
I tried tried to poke the bubbles with a needle again, but it didn’t do anything for me. I’m also not 100% sure they are air bubbles as they feel pretty hard and solid.
Bubbles are under the sticker, so you need to pierce 1.8mm of magnetic rubber with quite a bit of force. Also you may want larger needle, it’s rubber, so small hole may collapse and not let the air out. Or you can use syringe needle inserted under a shallow angle so air escapes through the needle itself. After you made the hole, you need to push the air out by strongly stroking starting from around the bubble so no air gets entrapped in a smaller bubble. Preheating the bed will make the job much easier as rubber will become much softer. I do not suggest peeling the rubber, you will certainly damage it. Poking holes is the least damaging way to fix it without changing the sticker.
Can confirm, didnt saw the bubble by eye, but something was off in the middle of the printbed which all my prints showed. Pierced it there and pushed with my thumbs and a bit of pressure around on the printbed, now I have a perfect printbed!
