Air Print After Filament Purge

Hello everyone,

I have an A1 mini and ran into a problem with air printing when my filament runs out mid print. This has happened on two different filaments one a multicolor PLA and the other a “silver” PETG. Neither are Bambu brand filaments. I am using Bambu Slicer.

The problem: printer runs out of filament and pauses. I follow the instructions on the printer display, load the new filament, it extrudes and I click yes, filament has extruded. Then it purges the old filament and resumes the print. But then the nozzle is above the model and air printing, nothing is coming out at all.

I’m thinking maybe it is retracting the filament too much before resuming? I wouldn’t think it is clogged since it just purged filament no problem a second before.

The filament I am using now is JAREES PETG that I got from Amazon. I’m super new to this. The issue has only happened when running out of filament. Right now a have a whole new spool loaded, so it likely won’t happen again for a while but I wanted to get an idea of what may be causing this for the next time I run out.

Any ideas of what to watch for?

Thank you!
Eri

Welcome to the forum.

Are you printing with PLA, which runs out and then trying to continue printing with PETG? These two types of filament print at different temperatures and cannot be “interchanged” while print with a part that is sliced for PLA. It should also be noted that PLA and PETG are not going to adhere together.
