I have had my X1c for a couple of weeks and every filament I’ve tried in it is printing as if it was matte. This includes Bambu Basic and Tough as well as 3rd party mainly Elegoo but have also used Coex. I’m using the stock profiles, Bambu for the Bambu filaments and Generic for the 3rd party ones. BTW these we’re talking PLA here as that’s all I have tried. Printing in the Standard speed, I have tried increasing the temp with no change and have also slowed the Aux fan to 25% still the same. The finish isn’t bad it’s just not what I am use to. Any ideas?
Which sides are you referring to. Bottom? Sides? Top?
try slowing down the outer layer printing speed. Saw videos recently showing the effects of high speed printing causes what you are seeing. Slowing it down made the glossy-ness come back.
Using PLA turn of the aux fan.
Temp and speed can both affect the finish. I have one PLA that prints matte finish on my Prusa with normal settings. (I actually like the look for that color.)
How much have you raised the temp?
How fast are you printing?
When you say standard speed, are you using the stock .4mm nozzle .2mm standard (printer-name) profile?
Very true, I have done several tests by lowering the speeds of the outer perimeters and at low speeds it prints ‘worse’.
this is my personal experience.
from Italy
During the print I bumped the temp from 220c to 230c and there was a slight sheen from that point up, this was with the Aux fan off.
Same part but this time I slowed the outer perimeter speed from 200 to 100 with the Aux fan off. This time it looked more like what I was use to.
Thanks for the suggestions
I’ve read that it’s cause by high speed printing.
I do a lot of silk PLA prints. Bambu says to print silk with an outer wall of 50. I find that 30 gives it an even shinier look. Another thing that I noticed. This pertains to Ziro Silk, outer wall of 30 and inner wall of no more than double the outer wall speed and you get an almost metallic look to the prints.
