Allow custom filament profiles to be edited and saved without renaming

If I create a ‘custom’ filament profiles I should be able to edit that profile and save it under the same name without saving under a different name.

When I create a custom filament profile, I must give it a name. The base settings for that profile are inherited from an existing filament profile. If I perform a filament calibration and wish to change the flow ratio for example, Bambu Studio makes me give the profile a new name unless I just want the changes kept only in the project. This causes me to have two profiles for a filament, one of which I do not want to keep. I cannot delete the initial profile I created because it is “inherited” by the one I have updated as a result of calibrating the filament.

I can understand and like that the baseline profiles provided in Bambu Studio cannot be altered. A profile I created should be able to be edited and saved without changing the name. This would reduce the list of filaments to select from when making a project.

Did you ever figure out a solution for this? I am stuck with the same issue, or more like the same annoyance.

Some of the recent changes to Studio has helped a very small amount. Finding that I can edit the filament profiles I create has been my solution.

In Studio:

  • Help
    • Show Configuration Folder
      • user
        • printer s/n#
          • Filament - using a text editor you can edit the .JSON file for the filament profile you want to change.

I hope this helps.
