It would be most helpful when assembling/merging parts to allow for using the TOP or BOTTOM of parts’ Z-position, rather than having to calculate the Z (middle) of one part added to the Z (middle) of another part. IE set the BOTTOM of part 2 to the TOP of part 1.

In yet other words: the reference for numerical position of parts should be at the bottom not in Z center. If you allow to select bottom, center, top would be even better but changing to bottom instead of centre would already be a huge improvement.
