I got a new H2D combo with the AMS 2 pro. The printer works fine, so did the AMS. After the basic configuration of the unit it asked for a firmware update. So I updated the unit and during this update process, the AMS started to behave very strange. It starts spinning the spools in the wrong direction and put the filament out of the feeder. It sounded like the motors were working against the feeders and made strange sounds. It really doesn’t sound healthy…
I tried to go back to the old firmware that didn’t help then I tried to install the new firmware again. That didn’t help either. I also tried to reset the whole unit to factory defaults. That didn’t help.
Does anybody experience the same problem and do you have an idea of what else I could do?
Sorry, I don’t have any further information like a G code or protocol. I could not even get an arrow message HMS that would have to determine the problem the AMS recognized by the printer, but when I access filament slot, the port starts winding in the reverse direction for over a minute. The red light of the spool is flickering. Nothing you would usually see from the AMS like breathing or pulsed light. I made a video of the situation, but I can’t upload videos.
But let’s look forward for a solution. Did anybody get a chance to try out a new firmware that is still a beta?
I know, but my first AMS 2 work just fine, but the printer was crazy on the display. They made me return the whole combo and send complete new unit within 9 days. Great job so far!!! but I don’t have a filament loading problem. My problem is that it winds the filament reverse. So the hub grabs the filament , and the spool is turning in the other direction. What makes a horrible squeaking sound. It’s close to self-destruction. It looks like every motor and every sensor is working for itself. When the hub accidentally releases the filament, the spool spins backwards like forever, pulling out all the filament. The hubs in the AMS are going crazy. It looks like Davy Jones is playing his organ inside the AMS.
I read the whole thread you started, but my problem feels much more complicated. Maybe it’s a problem on the the firmware updating that is not successful, but there is no message telling you there was a problem with the firmware. Because when the unit arrived, everything worked fine. The other thing is that I use third-party filament spools so I switched off reading the RFID chips.
Does anybody know how you can post a video here? I would really like to share what happens in my printer room.
Mine is doing exactly the same. The spool motors are winding in the opposite direction and fighting against the filament extruder. It applies so much force on the spool that it is deforming under the pressure. Is there a solution??
Hi guys, I had the same problem, also thought it was a software problem. but Bambu Lab send me some parts to try. after opening up the Filament inlet pace (the thing with the two orange spring mechanisms) I saw the magnet was detaches/broke. fix it with the new part and it works for me. but if you want to fix it yourself. definitely worth it, to see if the magnet is in place.
Thank you for giving me something to check. I powered on my H2D today and when the AMS 2 Pro normally reads filament at startup all it did was rewind slot 2 endlessly then says, “Problem Reading Filament.”
I’ll check for something in the feed path as well as a broken magnet.
