At the risk of jumping the gun, and knowing there’s not much out there yet, but curious if anyone has found an existing AMS stacker that also works with the AMS 2 Pro, or if they’re eyeballing a potential solution in particular >_>
From what I’ve seen, most existing AMS stackers were designed around the original AMS unit, so I’m wondering if any tweaks will be needed for the new model. Have you come across any designs that look promising?
Not yet. AMS 2 Pro is wider at the base, but looking at pictures the edges also look deeper so maybe it won’t be so problematic?
I’m thinking if there’s going to be a combo, like what I’m facing with a standard AMS and a Pro, that at least one of them is going to have to go on a shelf. The extra weight of the AMS Pro is probably going to dictate it needs to go on the bottom, so maybe a remix/mod with a wider base with a flare inwards above AMS 2 Pro dome height to hold the lighter original AMS?
So maybe something like this AMS stacking stand for P1P and X1 by MihaiDesigns - MakerWorld but with a wider base to accomodate the AMS Pro 2 would work.
Maybe this: AMS Stacking System by Jaxel - MakerWorld but set at AMS 2 Pro width and with printed hook-shelves for standard AMS extended outward to hold the original AMS?
2x AMS 2 Pros are on their way to me and I’m definitely gonna get the HT, so I’ll be designing something to hold all 3 (eventually) - it’ll need to be wider than all existing AMS stackers
See so here’s the other thing, right? So the difference in width is 4mm, but if you look at the overhang on the side of AMS 2 Pro (red lines) it seems so much wider than on the standard AMS. It gives me some hope that some solutions, assuming the spacing of the dividers on the side (wince) are similar, will work out of the box, just with some of the AMS 2 Pro further out to the side. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Hi will you let us know you have done it please…
Yup, it’s pretty high up on my list because I ordered a second AMS 2 with no space to put them without a stacker haha (but please don’t hold your breath, I have 2 other projects to finish first…)
No probs; I haven’t got mine yet. I have not ordered yet; I like to see if there are any problems with it first…but I was going to laser one, but I read how dirty it can get…so I will get it with 2 Ams now and some spares for… But if you can give us a shout when you have, please…
I’m sure there would be dozens of other designs on MW too - the race to the most popular poop chute is currently on and then it’ll be the AMS stacker shortly after haha
Forgot about the poop chute lol…
So fun update, I’d already printed out jaxel’s stacker, intending to get a second standard AMS, and I just got my AMS 2 Pro today, and it actually mostly fits. It’s definitely sturdy, if not fully seated in the back. Definitely workable for the time being to stack a AMS 2 Pro above a standard AMS. There are some wall-mounted solutions out there that have a working footprint for the AMS 2 Pro and I’m going to try and see if I can remix it onto the mounting bits for jaxel’s design.
gdirtpays has created a modified rail that more precisely fits the AMS 2 Pro for the above model - printing it out now!
OK this is what I have so far - the H2D is a tall unit so I don’t want to raise the top AMS higher to be able to open the lid of the bottom one. So the bottom one needs slides.
I don’t want store-bought slides nor do I want the complexity of printing double extension slides so I have long guide rails to bring the bottom one quite forward. The wider base helps with the tipping risk too. But the bottom AMS can be pushed all the way back so you can still see through the top glass of the H2D easily.
I have 608zz and 623zz bearings on hand, neither seem too suitable so I’ll need to order more (and somehow fill the cart with more stuff for the free shipping threshold, again)
The AMS’s sit on their feet on a flat surface instead of hooking into the housing plastic because there are already at least 3 different versions of AMS housings and there could be more.
The slide clears the top air vent.
No room for AMS HT here yet but I’m thinking it can be added via an extension bracket and I’ll leave provisions for it somewhere…
Starting the first full prototype now. Man it’s like 2kg and maybe 3 days of printing! Love designing for the dual nozzle process though
Here is the pull-out tray
There are trays for both versions available.
Looks amazing… nice work!!
