I have just gotten a AMS 2 Pro with the power adapter and it’s connected to my A1, I’ve searched here, the web and the wiki for the answer and nothing ? The question is can you use the dryer whilst printing when connected to an A1 or is this just for the latest printers ie P2S ? when I click on the humidity icon in bambu studio there is no option to start drying ?
Do you have the option to dry whilst printing in the printer ?
@MoriArti I’m pretty sure that they don’t let you dry during printing. If I am correct, they say it is because the power draw or something like that maybe?
I don’t think this is possible yet. They just added the ability to the P2S in beta firmware, so i’m guessing it’ll come to all machines eventually.

I think the majority of people are not ready for drying filament while printing.
Here’s why:
Normally, you dry PLA at around 45°C. At that temperature, you can’t realistically print—it becomes too soft, which leads to issues like clogging, deformation, or filament getting chewed up. It’s simply not reliable or efficient for consistent prints.
So what temperature would you dry at during printing—40°C?
We’ve already seen countless cases where people report extruder problems, and after troubleshooting, it turns out their chamber temperature was creeping up to 40–41°C. The general consensus has always been clear: you can’t print PLA in a 40°C chamber—it’s too hot. Even with systems like the Bambu Lab P2S running at 30–32°C, people already question whether that’s pushing the limit.
On the other hand, drying PLA at 35°C takes a very long time. It’s definitely not sufficient for taking wet filament, putting it into something like the Bambu Lab AMS 2, and immediately expecting high-quality results.
PLA users arguably need proper drying the most, but that doesn’t mean “on-the-fly” drying is the solution.
The engineering crowd already understands this: for best results, you need to dry filament properly at the correct temperature, typically for several hours. Drying during printing simply cannot match the consistency and reliability of using filament that has been properly dried for 6–8 hours beforehand.

I believe the default is to dry at half power, so around 20’c, but at that point you’re basically not really drying at anything above room temp so its not really going to “do” much
Thank for the detailed explanation I was wondering if something was not configured correctly as I had read a little while back that an update allowed drying whilst printing but as someone else here pointed out they believe that was just for the P2S..?
Im also looking for the answer for this. Do A1 have any new fw that allows drying and printing at the same time now? Or if anyone has an AMS 2 pro with an A1 machine, can help me check if we have an option to remotely turn on the dry function on Bambu Studio?

I bought an AMS 2 pro and connected it with my A1. It doesn’t support both drying whilst printing and remote drying from bambustudio. So sad
