I’m having this weird issue with my Ams 2 pro particularly after drying filament.
When loading filament (typically happens on a new, full spool) into slots 2 or 3 (the middle 2 slots), the filament does the typical load and unload motion. Normally, one would expect the filament to unload to a point where it cuts off. However, in my case, the filament retracts all the way until it pops out of the inlet hole. It is very annoying.
I’ve tried replacing the tubes and also cleaning the feeder hub (including reinserting the magnets) but this didn’t solve the issue. Curiously, it does not happen when the ams unit has cooled down so I’m wondering if it’s related.
I am having this problem now, I have had this AMS 2 PRO for less than a month, using a new roll of Bambu filament slot 2 Keeps spitting out the filament, Did anyone find a solution?
Mine was the same situation, I took some canned air and blew out / cooled off the feeder and it worked after that. I doubt this is the way it’s supposed to work though. I wonder if this could be covered under warranty. Do you still have this problem?
New AMS2 Pro purchased during the anniversary sale. Used it to dry 4 brand new rolls of BL ASA overnight last night. Did not insert the filaments into the feeders, so that I could dry with rotation for 12 hours.
Managed to print new filament swatches with all four filaments, including text printed in different colors.
It at one point “unloaded” the Gray that was loaded into slot 2, and now the AMS doesn’t read it as inserted. If I pull the filament out, and re-insert, it does the normal process, and then doesn’t recognize that anything is inserted.
Temperature inside the AMS2 Pro is currently 44C, with 7% humidity.
I’ve continued with more prints, and have now had Slot 2 automagically “unload” itself, mid print (during a filament change) multiple more times. So far, ONLY slot 2 has done this, and it has happened with multiple different filaments.
I’ve got video now of trying to “load” a new filament between prints, and it goes through the motions, and then unloads so far that the filament completely exits the inlet.
same issue slot 2 retracts till the filament pops out. was also after a petg drying session’. swapped spools over into differenty slot . loaded fine . spool that had prevousily loaded in another slot got pulled out in slot 2.. wonder if it is a temprature problem ???
I have successfully printed PLA, and the roll of PET-G loaded the first time I tried.
However, when I dried the PET-G after unloading it to allow rotation while drying, and then tried to reload it again it refused to load, backing all the way out. I tried bay 2, 3 and it successfully loaded into 4.
It’s possible the AMS2 had cooled down in the time I was trying different bays, googling etc.
Is there a way to formally log this issue with Bambu Labs?
Temperature relationship is a good idea. I’ve had filament presence sensor issues not just on my AMS2 Pro, but also my AMS HT now.
I’ve loaded a roll of PLA in the AMS HT and started drying @ 45 degrees to dry it a bit before starting a print a couple hours later. However, the AMS HT stopped recognizing that filament was loaded at all while the heater was on. Once the dryer turned off and the interior temp of the AMS HT equalized, it started recognizing it had filament loaded again.
Between my two new AMS units, there is some temperature between 35 and 45C that causes the filament sensors to stop working…
