AMS 4 hole extruder chimney

Hey all,

Is there a replacement or upgrade or whatever to get rid of the 4 holed part the PTFE tube fits into?

the A1’s should ship with the correct, single PTFE fitting on the extruder.
this AMS labeled junk offends me and I want it gone.

Please Help

When asking for help, please provide as much information as possible about your inquiry.H
Including pictures and detailed information about the printer model, print speeds, filament type and settings used will help get the appropriate solutions.
It is also recommended to include a .3mf file of the model you are trying to print. This ensures the suggestions received will be more accurate.

Could you please share more information about the problem you are experiencing with the AMS lite Filament Hub?

It should be working correctly if you use a single PTFE tube, or all four PTFE tubes with the AMS lite

It adds mass

It adds 3 places for debris to enter the extruder mechanism

It blocks straight line access from above.

Its existence infers with the machine during normal (non ams) use

I want it gone, I want an optimized machine

Well something like this could solve your debris but not your mass complaint.
One could model a part that replaces the original buffer assembly with a single screw in PTFE-Fitting, but as these are relatively heavy, the whole thing could be even heavier in the end.

There are also different solutions on MakerWorld for the A1/A1 Mini if you only need a single PTFE tube for one filament.

and a more complex version with a M3x10 PTFE connector:

Dude,

Thanks

What a helpful post

Please note that installing such mods will not allow the printer to work as designed, and can introduce problems.

For example, not using the hub will make the printer unable to detect any tangles.

More information about the Tangle Detection feature available in this Wiki article.
