AMS A Slot 2 filament may be broken in the tool head

I have about 80 hours on a H2C and haven’t had any issues, but now I’m having a terrible problem when the filament retracts, it does retract, but the toolhead still thinks that there is filament in the head. I have tried moving the filament around to different slots in 2 different AMS 2 am and I get the same issue. I have also tried it with both Right and left nozzles and .4mm and .6mm Vortex and the only constant is the BL Brown spool of filament. Please note that I have disassembled the extruder, no visual evident of filament. I have also done the Cold Pull several times. Filament was dried, prior use. Could it be just a bad spool? It might be a faulty filament sensor

Thank you, I reached out to BLs, and they determined the same thing. They are sending them a replacement. Thank you

They sent me a replaced the filament sensor, got a few prints in before it happened again. Worked with Support again, but the problem still persists. Since I have had to take the extruder apart several times, it looks like I keep getting filament debris all over the extruder gears and by the filament sensor.

Here you can see all the debris above the filament cutter, any idea what is causing this?

I wonder if the tension on the extruder gear is to tight and grinding the filament. I would clean it up best you can and look to try and adjust the tension. Is it still just the BL Brown roll giving you the retraction issues?

After further testing it isn’t isolated to one color or spool location in the AMS. How do I adjust the tension? I have been thru several of BL videos and I haven’t seen that mentioned for the dual extruder.

I looked it up, seems there is no adjustment. My fault. They seem to use a fixe internal spring. It really does look like the filament is grinding. Have you played with temps at all?

It is all good. I do find it a little strange that there is no way to change the tension, I guess that it basically the spring that keeps the tension on the filament. No I haven’t messed with the temps at all, are you thinking that I’m slightly on the cooler side?

Its just a though. But if it’s a little cooler it might be applying excess force on the filament causing it to chafe like that? May be totally off base, but tossing it out there.

Sometimes there are reports of the extruder gear sliding off the shaft. It might be the issue here.

A misaligned gear would start shaving on the side, and cause the debris.
