AMS and AMS 2 PRO - where to change?

Dear all,
I just extended my P1S with “old” AMS with a new AMS 2 PRO.
Connected are both - first in row is the AMS 2PRO and with that AMS “old” ist second.
When I start BambuLab Software and Printer, I got a short view during “checking mode” with both AMS. The new one name A1-A4 and the old one B1-B4.
But after this check I find no way to select or check B filaments in old AMS.
When I prepare the prints I can select 8 filaments, but starting printing it has only available 4 colors of the new AMS 2 Pro.

Is that a minor issue caused by not correct handling of the software or is there a major issue with hard- or software?

The versions are all the newest ones - Firmware and Software.

Maybe someone can help…

You have the power brick plugged into the AMS2 Pro?
You have the first 6-pin cable plugged into printer hub, then second 6-pin going between AMS and AMS2.
The AMS appears to either read the serial number of each AMS or assigns a number but either way, your old AMS should be A1 - A4, new AMS 2 Pro should be B1 - B4.
Did you replace the single filament buffer with the hub? Not sure how you connect two AMS to buffer other that via a splitter.
I bought the multi-port hub when I bought my second regular AMS and just powered up my AMS2 Pro a week ago so all my experience is with filament hub, not filament buffer.
But also check firmware versions of OG AMS and AMS2 as they are different

I have exactly the same setup.
X1C with an AMS1 and since a month with an additional AMS2 Pro.

  • I replaced the buffer with a hub
  • connected the hub to the X1C with the 4Pin cable
  • connected the AMS2 Pro with 6Pin cable to the hub
  • and the AMS1 with a 6Pin cable to the AMS2 Pro
  • For the AMS2 Pro i bought the power brick and connected it
  • both AMS have a PTFE tube into the hub
  • one additonal PTFE tube from external spool into the hub
  • one PTFE port on the Hub remains free (or in my case, I feed the Sunlu S4 into it)

AMS2 Pro = A1 to A4
AMS1 = B1 to B4

But i can see and edit both AMS, and for sure choose all 9 filaments. In BS and via display on the X1C.

How does the rest of your setup/connections look like?

What firmware version does each AMS have?
My P1S - 01.08.00.00
Hub - 00.00.00.43
AMS#1 (original combo buy) - 00.01.06.62
AMS#2 - 00.01.06.62
AMS 2 Pro - 02.00.19.68

I can’t really say the following actions did anything to get AMS2 Pro reading correctly.

I did swap 6-pin connection sequence a couple of times. Thinking being that AMS2 needed to be at end of daisy chain.

I did a couple of Load/Unload sequences of different slots in the AMS2.

I do question what worked and what was going through the motions.
Were the logic boards just timing out before they could get completely through reading and writing the 3 AMS to memory?

Only thing I can say firmly is that it took multiple cycles of RFID reading, spread among all three AMS units before they all finally read correctly.
All while BL was sending firmware updates to my machines.

It is just as likely that rolling out the firmware when all this started 2 - 3 weeks ago exposed some new bugs that required fixing.
