Hi there, I have a problem with my AMS, it doesn’t unload correctly the PETG filament on slot 4. It’s really a pain because I want to use the PETG as a support, but I receive the error that he can’t unload and the red led on slot 4.
The hotend is clear, the problem is before. If I pull the filament by hand is free.
Have you tried adding weight to the spool? I used this and it has cleared up all of my “failed to unload” issues. There are other versions that use more available weights such as used batteries etc.
Hi, I don’t think the problem is the weight since the filament roll was new and also the spool was cardboard, I put the plastic adapter around it. Happens always and only with petg, pla+ is not problem at all.
This is a great idea and design, lol I’m just using a 250g ball bearing. Thanks for sharing because I’ve been looking for a more elegant solution.
If you put the same PETG spool on a slot other than slot 4, does the probelm go away? If it works on other slots, then part of the problem is slot 4.
One of my printers has the same problem on slot 4 (probably coincidentally), and only when cardboard spools (edges tapped with duct tape) are used. I think it’s the combination of the first stage feeder, the cardboard spool and/or how well the filament is wound. I am thinking of replacing the first stage feeder on that slot, but have not had a chance to get to it yet. It’s an inconvenience, not a deal breaker though since I can just avoid using cardboard spools.
There are a bunch of “fixes” for the AMS not pulling back. I have no issues so I’ve not tried any. Here’s a link to one that claims to be the best. I’m not sure what it does to fix the problem, the multi color text and multiple font types and weights make it nearly impossible for me to read.
