Has anyone done anything like this with desiccant in the AMS?
I have been somewhat skeptical about the effectiveness of these containers one drops between the slots in the AMS because if you think of the container as a cube shape (6 sides), only the back face is open to the spools.
Front, Left, Right, Top, Bottom all face a solid flat surface and you need a flow path which 2 minimum requirement In—>Out.
That can be Front–>Back, Left—>Right and other combinations.
With that as my driver I decided to see what happened with puting some small 12V fans in the front faces of 3 fans.
I came and looked at the humidity indications on the AMS in Bambu Studio and it was 19%. Unfortunately from a documentation standpoint, by the time I opened up my screen shot app it had already dropped to 10%. In 2 minutes, tops.

That looks similar to this I found on Makerworld, but it looks like your may have better airflow:
Seems like a darn good idea. And I just happen to have some 40x40x28 Delta fans on hand. Might have to experiment myself.
(They’re loud as heck. I removed them from an older HPE POE switch to replace with quieter if lower pressure fans. But maybe I can use them in something like your design and underdrive them.)
Any interest in sharing your design files?
I have a single fan in the A AMS that has been in service for about a month and the humidity in it plunged similar to what I have in the B AMS but it has come back up to around 19%.
I am going to pull it tomorrow and also pull the two that have no fans and dump the beads to see the color difference between them. If it is significant I will take a picture.
When I dumped the beads in the old fanless containers before the swap, they were as blue as if I had just opened a new jug of silica. I put those beads in about 2 months ago so that to me was confirmation that without forced ventilation they were ineffective.
I have some Adafruit BME280 humidity sensors I can attach to a microcontroller to capture the data and plot it. That way I can see how long the containers will run before needing regeneration.
As an added note, the 4 spools in B AMS have been sitting exposed on a shelf for at least 2 months.

The fans are 30 x 30. 40x 40 I am guessing woul go from edge to edge of the container

I’ was just about to do it and then searched and found this post…
Thanks
