Had several problems with AMS today.
Equipment P1S with standard AMS. Estimate 1100 hours print time.60% in to a 11hr Print and slot on starts making a hard clicking noise when loading filament. Using Inland Black PLA + spool 90% full. Almost looked like it was having a hard time pulling the filament from the roll and maybe feed gears slipping tooth or two. Only had a few layers left to print with this color.
When I got to 70% I got an error code 0700-8007 173207 from slot four loaded with Inland White PLA HS 25% full. AS it tried to load it and the filament was going into the extruder you here a twank ( like a spring popping). After some research some people said a magnet in the AMS hub on back of machine, it might be backwards. I’ve never had it apart so disregarded that idea.
After checking the tubes and connecting points for and reason to cause problems, found nothing.
Then pulled a couple yards of filament off the spool. I found some imperfections. See attached photo. Spots unevenly spaced along 66" of the filament. The imperfections were like a spot where something was spinning on it and dented and pushed up some of the filament. The AMS gear marks continue thru these imperfection so I don’t think it was the AMS gear doing this and surely not the extruder gears. The spacing was from the end of filament 19 1/2" then 9", then 10 1/2", then 19 1/2". Shortly after that the AMS had not left any gear marks. i checked another yard and seemed to be good.
Continued on and with the print. Thought I lucked out and maybe just had a bad section of filament.
But this happened again at around 85%. Check filament same imperfections.
Don’t have a backup roll of this filament, hope I can finish print and then toss the roll out.If anyone has any thoughts on either of the AMS problems, I would love to hear it. Tell me something good and maybe I can talked the wife into buying me a new H3C.
