Can the AMS HT be used to dry and the print non-AMS TPU. It seems to imply you can use it for printing by way of a port that is on the back lid but it breaks out Drying and Printing separately in the specs with printing geting a Yes Supported while DRYING is a NO NOT SUPPORTED but the FAQ somewhat contradicts the specs.
It also may be tied to some OTA updates that have not yet been pushed out to the printers and hence to the attached AMS, AMS HT,
Also, what is an AMS Pro? I only saw that name as I was trying to find HT documentation just now.
You can not dry AND print yet, but you can use non-AMS tpu with the bypass port. It is not motorized and you’ll need to have the AMS HT in an optimal position to reduce friction so that it can pull it cleanly though
In case you are unaware you can also not buy one yet either. You can get on a list to be notified and the wording for the notification does not match the OTA Update schedule. as written so that is confusing.
Drying temperature up to 85°C, optimized for high-temperature materials
- Wiki recommends 75 - 85 ℃, 8 h for TPU using bed as drying heater.
- Don’t think the HT is going to be considered a blast oven by BL Engineers
Bypass Outlet- For TPU
Electro-Magnetic Air Vent - Automated venting facilitates dehumidification during drying and airtight sealing for weeks of quality printing
Auto-rotate Drying I hope they can engineer in a way to allow the motor/rollers to “free-wheel” when printing TPU from the auxiliary port installed for printing TPU. This would (in theory) be a lower friction option than hanging the spool off the rear mounted device
RFID Sync - I assume this will auto program the dryer function based on input from the RFID chip. *I just bought two Kg’s of Non-AMS BL TPU. Do refills come with an RFID? If yes, has anyone put them in an AMS and gotten a message stating not for use in an AMS because that will need to be reconfigured to allow use in the AMS HT using the provided port.
Also in the FAQ it says it requires a 220V power supply which I certainly hope is an oversight that they neglected to put in 110 for US users.
AMS HT is a single roll AMS dryer combo that supports higher temp. AMS PRO is a 4 roll AMS with integrated dryer, but doesn’t get to higher temperatures, as the AMS HT.
Both will be compatible with A1, P1 and X1 after a firmware update in a near future.
So, to put it bluntly, it is just a drybox with motorized assist. But if you print TPU, it is exactly the same as a single slot drybox
Well, I’ll stick to my air-fryer to dry filament and a single slot drybox then.
