AMS Letters scrambled after connecting new AMS

Hello

Today i connected AMS nr 4 to my X1C. Now the letters which indicates the ams, are scrambled. A is now C, B remains B, C is D and the new one is now A. Why does this happen and is it possible to changs the letters manually. I Want the new on ot be D and the old 3 AMS shold have the letters as before.

Best regards…

There is a button on the bottom right hand corner of the AMS/Filament screen (looks like a nut, I think it’s a spool) AMS settings, that shows a popup with “Reset AMS Information” it has instructions.

Just curious - did you add the new AMS at the end of the string or did you insert it between existing AMS units?

Yes. Its connected at the end of this chain, but it gets letter A. AMS A was the one connected to the X1C, B was connected to A and C to B. Now i connected the new one to C and the chaos begins. I must try the button, duane said, but there is a print job ATM. Thanks for your replies

Thanks for your reply. I`ll try this immediately after the print job

That’s odd. I had assumed it might go in sequence in the chain but apparently not. I have two AMS units and they have always enumerated in plug in sequence for me but not sure why.

Good luck!

This button is to set the behaviour of the ams on changing filament and how to act if filament gets out. Seems to me, i have to accept the new order :frowning:

In this wiki, scroll down to the tips section. It will tell you how to load your AMS’s with predictable results.

Finally it works as expected. Thanks to all off you. Especially to Duane777 who told me this, but i didnt understand the info. Barryg41’s link opened my eyes. For all of you with the same issue. After the reset of the ams id’s disconnect all ams, connect the one you want as A “AND WAIT FOR THE COMPLETE INITIALISATION (searching RFID und so) !!!”. After that connect B and again, WAIT, the C… WAIT and D WAIT. This procedure takes at least 20 minutes with 4 AMS and all of them filled with filament. After that, the AMS have the ID you want. If you hurry in this procedure (like me) it’s possible the ID’s are not as you wish. Then you can reset again and connect AMS after AMS.

Sorry if I was unclear, I was in a bit of a hurry.
